21. THE PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTIC OF ADC
OFFSET ERROR
The offset error is the deviation between ideal transfer value and actual transfer value.
GAIN ERROR
The gain error is the difference between the slope of ideal transfer curve and the slope of actual
transfer curve.
DIFFERENTIAL NONLINEARITY (DNL)
The differential non-linearity is the difference between the actual step width and ideal step width. The
ideal step width is 1 LSB. The characteristic of DNL is as below figure.
INTEGRAL NONLINEARITY (INL)
The integral non-linearity is the deviation of a code from actual straight line. The deviation of each
code is measured from middle of this code. The characteristic of INL is as below figure.
